Where is the money?

If you’re managing or have been thinking of starting a business, you’ll need to quickly master the practice of early-stage financing. There are so many different ways to fund your venture, and even more tools you can use for financial planning (think statements, forecasts, and balance sheets). But what if you don’t know what exactly it is you are looking for?

I’ve built this website to help entrepreneurs and start-ups navigate this difficult terrain. My insights come from over 20 years of experience leading advanced technology development and commercialization for a number of companies across industries. As a consultant, I’ve worked with both private ventures and governments. I also teach wide-eyed entrepreneurs at the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University and at the University of Toronto, in themes such as New Venture Finance, Innovation, and Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Strategy.

I am also actively contributing to advancements in the field of entrepreneurial finance while completing my PhD in Management Sciences at the University of Waterloo. Having said that, I will be quite busy in the fall, and I have decided not to take on new contracts. I am, however, open to conversations about future opportunities!
